Strides (General)

Looking at the 1861 census they lived in the area round about Velthouse Lane ('Felt House')and Nottwood Hill ( Notwood/Nottswood). Really on the edge of Longhope and Blaisdon. The cottages didn't have names so 'Strides' is unlikely, maybe a transcription error or the Forest accent rearing it's head again. Sutridge as mentioned before is a possibility. It's just a very small patch of the right area. There is a Sutridge Farm and a Sutridge House on Velthouse Lane, no doubt other cottages too roundabout. Several footpaths run through the area, it's quite pretty especially in the spring.
And there is 'The Steps' nearby, a bit of thinking out of the box!!!
