William Standerwick Barber b 1811 (General)

Hi Everyone,
GG Grandpa William Standerwick Barber was born around 1811 France(British Subject)
He lived in several areas -settled and died in Welsh St Chepstow.
His children lived in Ross-Shirenewton and several arrived in Cardiff around 1880. Several of the sons and their children had the middle name "Standerwick"
which has followed through to present time.
I can see no marriage to a Standerwick or any trace of the family coming from Standerwick.
I hope that it may help trace the family prior to 1811.
Any ideas or suggestions please.
