"STANDERWICK, a parish in the hundred of Frome, county Somerset, 4 miles N.E. of Frome. Beckington is its post town. The village, which is small, is wholly agricultural. The parish includes Old Ford. The land is chiefly in pasture. The living is a rectory annexed to that of Beckington, in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Mrs. Edgell, of Standerwick Court, is lady of the manor and principal landowner. There are remains of an ancient encampment."
