April 2008

Two sections of the B4234 from Lydney to Lydbrook are now closed for roadworks, and there are fears it will prove a headache for tourists, locals and family historians alike !.

The Cannop to Mireystock section of road has been closed since January when it collapsed during heavy storms. Work will not begin until April 21 and it will not reopen until June at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Severn Trent Water has begun work on an £800,000 project replacing 2,200 metres of ageing water mains between Whitecroft and Parkend, and New Road between the villages is shut.

From April 20 to May 12, closures will also be in place in Parkend, between New Road and Folly Road. The final phase affects Folly Road and Crown Lane.
