Road Closure newnham -> blakeney Oct 2013 (General)

by slowhands @, proud of his ancient Dean Forest roots, Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 08:36 (4078 days ago) @ slowhands

a number of you may be travelling or planning to visit the Forest.....

To cause as little disruption as possible, the resurfacing to the A48 will be carried out in three sections:

7th to 11th October - Silver Fox Cafe to the railway under bridge at Broadoak
14th to 25th October - A48 Awre Road junction to A48 Two Bridges Road junction in Blakeney
28th October to 1st November - A48 Awre Road junction through Blakeney village to the end of the 30mph limit
The closures will be between 7.30am to 7pm but works are not expected to be carried out after 5.30pm. The road will be re-opened to traffic each day as soon as it is safe to do so.

The work through the centre of Blakeney has been planned for the half-term school holidays to minimise disruption.

Letters will be sent to local residents and advance signs will be put in place to warn drivers of the closure and diversion. The diversion route will be signed via the B4234, B4226 and A4151(Speech House and Littledean) .

Locals think this will cause major disruption in Cinderford, Littledean, and surrounding roads...

Take Care

NOTE: Between 9 and 19 September 2013, roadworks will also be underway on the A4136 (Staunton Village) which will affect traveler coming to/from Monmouth. The road will be closed from 07:30 to 17:30 Mon to Fri (open on the weekends and after the hours stated) and a diversion route will be in place. Not sure if these have concluded as the diversion signs are still in place !

Update 4th Nov 2013

Works completed the 7000 daily commuters can reuse the road :-)
