I have come across HITT in Devon and Dorset before as well as a University pal who came from Bristol.

Yours appear to go back towards Bideford , North Devon,(1841 at least) which I suspect will yield a large number of "cousins".

There are at least 19 HITT entries in London today,and 6 in Nottinghamshire
