Albert Smith (b 1868 aprox) figured it out at last (General)

I've figured it out. Still don't have Alberts birth certificate but the gist of the census information gives it some sense. I suspect that the baptism I have for Albert Smith is possibly correct anyway as the Elizabeth Smith (nee Mills) Albert Smith is born 24 jan 1868 (I accidentally ordered his birth certificate while attempting to get my Alberts certificate). My Albert Smith is baptised 1st April 1868; without the mothers maiden name its not going to be possible to prove either way other than to say that the Mills Albert is clearly indicated on the birth certificate.

I had the information there I just hadn't made the connections.

James Smith b.1811 marries Eliza Jennings b.1808, he dies before 1846 and she remarries Anthony Hyde b.1820 d 1878

Eliza Jennings had a son James Smith and daughter Ellen Smith to James Smith. She has George and Sarah Hyde b.1849 to Anthony Hyde. It also gets especially confusing as both families have two James Smiths, and the siblings share first names between both families.

I'd confused the census information due to the merging of the Smith Hyde families. Silly of me as there is other information which links my Smiths back to the Hydes later on (such as the birth cert for Eliza Hyde which my Great grandmother used as her own identity to get a pension in Canada). My friend in NZ who thought we were related includeded my Alberts details in her research as well. Easily done given the similarities in names and such and the lack of definitive birth certs for my Albert. We've been merging the two Smith families hence the confusion. The savings grace is that the other Elizabeth Smiths' maiden name is Mills and it can be seen clearly that Sydney and the other Albert are hers as boh have birth certificates.

I'll now build the details up but that's the case as far as I can see. Some gaps to fill but the solutions in front of me now.

Regards

Lawrence
