For starters - If you check on Gloucestershire BDM

you will find Ellen HAYWARD's birth in 1839 - mother's maiden name KNIGHT

Charles HAYWARD married Mary KNIGHT Arlingham 17 March 1818

So, although on the 1841 census, she is named Ann - on the 1851 census, she is also Mary

This sometimes happens (as in my family tree) - when a girl is christened Mary Ann - and goes by either name.

Walter C HAYWARD - just called HAYWARD - no mother's surname, so ? is this Ellen's Son

Looking at FOD records - Edward Walter was baptised at Arlingham - 8 July 1871 - mother Helen...... (a singlewoman)

using Gloucestershire BDM - his birth is listed there, again no mother's maiden name......
