William John BLUNT 1858 Clearwell (General)

by jhopkins @, Sunday, July 17, 2011, 09:49 (4882 days ago) @ Jefff

Sorry folks, the OP posted to a NZ group originally, and later to this FoD forum on the recommendation of someone on the NZ group.

He said in his post to the NZ group:
He married an Elizabeth ROUD in the 15th December of
that year at the age of 29/30 in Philipstown which was/is a suburb of
Christchurch.

IN 1889 Elizabeth gave birth to a son, my grandfather (also William John
BLUNT) in Kaikoura.

I would also be interested in the arrival of Elizabeth ROUD prior to 1887.

He did not include this in his post to this forum, but stupidly I posted my responses on both Blunt and Roud to the FoD group, when there is no evidence that Elizabeth Roud had any connection to the Forest except her NZ marriage to a FoD descendant. I have found a possible death record for her in NZ in 1890, but no other details - and it is spelled Roud as the OP said.

My apologies. Thank you Jefff for your compliments regarding my Blunt post, and apologies for taking you astray with the Roud post. However, it looks like you may have found her family!

And yes, deaths were all too common on these voyages to the uttermost ends of the earth - particularly amongst the children.
