STEPHENS of Lydney (General)
Still wondering where "my" Richard appeared from. There is no clear record of him before he and his wife Sarah bury a daughter, Mary, at Awre in 1745. They baptise my g...grandmother (another Mary) and her sister Elizabeth at Blakeney Chapel in 1746 and 1749 respectively. Sarah died and was buried at Awre in 1754, and in 1756 Richard marries Mary Lovell, also of Awre parish. Mary (Lovell) Stephens died in 1772, buried at Awre, Richard (of FOD) dies in 1805, aged 81.
The Stephens family seems fairly well anchored in Lydney . . .and it was a parish used by extra parochial FOD folks as well . . .but I can't seem to find a link between my Richard and any other Stephens group.
He would have been a contemporary of your Henry's father. We know the Wickendon's and the Clarke's end up as neighbors in the next generation, so perhaps there is a link there somewhere?
