7th (Service)Battalion., The Gloucestershire Regiment.

Formed Bristol Aug. 1914. 39th Brigade, 13th Division. 4 battalions to a brigade, 3 brigades to a division.

To Tidworth. Jan. 1915 Basingstoke. Feb. 1915 Blackdown, Aldershot. June 1915 sailed from Avonmouth. July 1915 landed at Gallipoli. Jan. 1916 to Egypt. Feb. 1916 to to Mesopotamia. July 1918 39th Brigade. to North Persia Force. 31Oct 1918 39th Brigade North Persia; Bijar.

My Grandfathers Sisters stepson was a company commander in 7/North Staffordshire Regiment. 7/NS's was in same Brigade and Division from Tidworth onwards. Same Brigade in 1918 but different deployment in N. Persia. and Russia. He was killed at Gallipoli.

Service battalions were part of The New Army of 30 divisions generally referred to as Kitchener's Army.
