I have information on William HIBBS/HEBES born 1630 in the Forest of Dean, Gloucester-shire near Coleford from ancestry sites. I do not have any concrete evidence to support this. It is also indicated that he was a Quaker who was imprisoned for his religious beliefs and that he was either hanged or beheaded on March 6, 1686 for his religious beliefs. I would like to know when he was born, and if he did die as documented above. Where is he buried? His wife's name is also a mystery--Joanne? They had a son, Jonathan, who was also hanged or beheaded for being a Quaker.
The children listed are:
1.Jane, born January 14, 1655
2.Jonathan, born May 26, 1657 died about 1686
3.Mary, born 1659
4.Sarah, born January 6, 1660
5.Hannah, born November 11, 1662
6.William II, born January 23, 1665; progenitor of the U.S. Hibbs
7.Joseph, born October 10, 1668

I do have information on William Hibbs II coming to New Jersey at the age of 11 with a group of Quaker Friends on the ship Kent. They arrived in 1677. It is said his father smuggled him out of England on the Kent as a cabin boy to the Captain of the ship. I have a list indicating he was on this ship. If you have any other information on William Hibbs II I would also appreciate it as well. He is our link to the above William HIBBS SR.

I also would like to know if William HIBBS SR worked in the iron mines or did he farm or was he employed with the lumber business of that time?
