Hi MPG,
regarding your searching of the Glos Archives site, you don't seem to have mentioned what I'm sure you found, namely they have the Will of William Hibbs from the hamlet of Aylburton, Lydney Parish, dated 1686. Their reference 1686/191.

Which leads me to ask you, as the clear expert on this site judging by your sterling work this week, just HOW do you derive further details of this info ?.
I've been using this site myself for a long time when searching names, but haven't worked out how to delve deeper, please enlighten me ?. In the past I tried using the search engine from their homepage as per your hyperlink, but I thought perhaps mistakenly it was "timing out" without a hit?. Since then it seems the site's been updated but this numbskull still can't drive it !.

Thankyou in hopeful anticipation !

UPDATE !
Just tried using the site from your link again and eventually managed to get some hits when searching for "William Hibbs". Unfortunately those 11 hits were for a C19th WH from Bristol. I tried searching for the above Will using their own reference 1686/191 but no luck at all. I just wish I could interpret the various input fields, at this rate I may have to adopt last resort and read the instructions !! #
Please put me out of my misery and point out what I'm doing wrong ! I knew I should have asked you this question wrt the Larceny thread t'other night.

# I've just noticed they say some features don't work when using Internet Explorer 8. Typically for my renowned bad luck thats what I'm currently using. Which IE are you using, perhaps this is my problem ?. I really don't want to change IE as this upsets other aspects of my pc, so any suggestions gratefully received.
