I realise this message is about 9 years too late but I am researching the murder of Woolaston resident William Syms in November 1818.

Willam Burton was hanged for his death at Gloucester in April 1819.
William Hurd was the owner and a member of the trio on the boat that took Syms to his death.
James Ball who married Hurd's widow was the main witness at Burton's trial.
