HANKINS of Herefordshire (General)
I realize I'm necroposting here, but I wonder whether anyone has any records that point to a Dennis Hankins who emigrated to the Carolina colony around the time of its founding (the name William runs in my family, so the William discussed on this thread could perhaps be a brother or contemporary cousin)? What I've seen indicates a 1715 date of birth. The family legend is that he and two brothers departed Glasgow, Scotland--however Hankinses are pretty thin up there, so I wonder whether that might simply have been where they had to travel in order to embark. Also, I don't have any indication of those brothers here. Dennis Hankins settled in Georgetown. I have to question whether the brothers might have gotten off at other colonial ports.
