Thanks very much gents, and yes I should have looked on the Welsh site, but in my defence it was late ;)

Mr Durke of Cardiff eh ?.

Re the financial problems, thanks Peter, that may explain why I saw mentions of shareholders meeting and suchlike. It also confirms it was indeed a Mr Flewitt who came to the rescue, and not Blewitt which I misread it as last night, thanks. (Although of course these various papers shared stories, so if just one reporter misheard something, then that error would be repeated. That said the FoD PRs does include ONE for a Flewitt, and at abt this same time, so not an impossible name !). Another step on the trail.

These reports all helps explain why it took 2 years to build, maybe they stopped work for a while ? And WHAT was the builder's conduct ?.... Was the fire accidental ?.

So given the distances it's likely Mr Durke would employ local workers too, especially for the special-ised "fiddly" bits perhaps ?

More to come, thanks again !
