I'm in Canada, Jeff, where it's still in mid-evening.

Thomas' father Samuel was a coal miner or coal miner hewer in every census. I know nothing about where he would go to work, whether or not there were mines in Cheltenham as I don't know that detail from not living in England.

I do know from my research that people relocated in the days before automobiles either because of work or because of marriage. The Cook(e)s were descended from my Kear relatives, who mainly lived in Forest of Dean, but some moved to Yorkshire in the 1880's, which is where my grandmother (born Annie Kear) was from.
