New Weir (General)
I'm sure this is New Wear or New Weir near Symonds Yat rock / Coldwell Rocks on the Wye...
For an old map and new map
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
co-ordinates 356259,215839
( on a 25000 OS map use 56259,15839 )
That would be about 1 1/2 miles south of the centre of Whitchurch Herefordshire village.
Goodrich , Whitchurch and Englich Bicknor are often used to "cover" this area.
It was the site of an old iron (?) Forge
