Richard Jenkins baptised 31/3/1776 Newland (General)
Dear Forum,
Please can anyone help me find the father of Richard Jenkins 31/3/1776 Newland. Richard Jenkins 1776 married Ann Moss 1782 of Leeds at Bedwelty in 1800. His father was George Jenkins and mother Sarah Beach. I have traced the Beach family right back. I cannot find George Jenkins in any of the parish records on the website.
There is a death for a George Jenkins dated 1804 Breams Green but I cannot find that either. Where could I look for a will as I have not managed to find anywhere to search?
Was it usual for someone born in Newland to move to Tredegar - was Newland a coal mining area?
On alot of the documentation that I have for Richard Jenkins he is down as a 'gentleman'. However in the parish records for the baptism of his son John Jenkins at Bedwelty in 1819 his father is down as a Collier/Inn Keeper at Tredegar. Surely a collier would not be classed as a 'gentleman'
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Diana
