I know that this is about 4 years after you requested info on William Hicks and Mercy (or Mary?), but as I have just looked on the same site for info about the same person, - William Hicks of 1793, - I wonder if you still look on this very informative site of the forest of Dean ?
Or if anyone else would have any more info on this William Hicks, and in particular his ancestors, and one of his sons, John Hicks, born 1819 or 1820, whom I think is my great grandfather, as long as he (John), had a son called Alfred John Hicks, who I know to have been my grandfather.
