First of all Jane Kear was baptised at Newland on 23.3.1745/6 (the regnal year changed here. She married James Morgan on 4.11.1766 at Newland. Her father was Samuel Kear estimated baptism 1715. Samuel married Jane Worgan (b.1724e) on 5.5.1745 at Newland. Samuel and Jane lived at Breams Cross. Samuel was buried at Newland on 24.6.1773 and Jane was buried at Bream on 1.4.1789.

Samuel (b.1715e)was the son of John Kear baptised 7.9.1679 at Newland. John married Mary Thomas (b.3.8.1684 Newland)on 14.4.1711 at Newland. John and Mary lived at Breams Cross. John was buried on 18.4.1775 at Newland (his epitaph states that he was 107!)Mary was buried on 31.5.1765 at Newland.

John (b.1679e) was the son of John Kear baptised 1650e. John married his first wife Maria Jones (b.1657e)on 20.11.1678 at Newland. John and Maria lived at Bream. John was buried on 26.3.1719 at Lydney and Maria was buried on 18.2.1683/4 at Bream.

John (b.1650e) was the sone of John Keare baptised 20.8.1626 at Bream. John married Margery ? (b.1628e) in 1649e. John was buried on 24.5.1702 at Bream and Margery was buried on 26.2.1691/2 at Bream.

John (b.20.8.1626) was the son of Richard Kear (b.1601e) No records have been found for his marriage or death.

Richard (b.1601e) was the son of Richard baptised 5.3.1578/9 at Bream. No records have been found for his marriage. Richard was buried in January 1636 at Newland.

Richard (b.5.3.1578/9) was the son of "Yeoman" Edward Kere baptised 1541e. Edward married Johanna(Ann) White (b.1544e) on 7.2.1565/6 at Newland. Edward and Johanna lived at Breams Cross. Edward died on 26.2.1613/4 at Newland. Johanna died before 1613. Edward left a will and is buried in a large Table Tomb in Newland Churchyard the details are still clear to see.

Edward (b.1541e) was the son of John Kyre baptised 1506e. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kyre (b.1506e) was the son of John Kyrie baptised 1476e. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kyrie (b.1476e) was the son of John Kery baptised 1446e. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kery (b.1446e) was the son of John Kery baptised 1418e. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kery (b.1418e) was the son of John Kere baptised 1391e probably in Chepstow. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kere (b.1391e)was the son of John Kere baptised 1363e probably in Chepstow. No records have been found for his marriage or death.

John Kere (B. 1363e) was the son of William Keere baptised 1335e and Johanne ?. They were married in Chepstow 1359e. No record has been found for their deaths.

William (b.1335e)was the son of an unknown Kear baptised 1305e.

The unknown Kear (b.1305e) was the son of Robert Keere of Tidenham baptised 1270e.

Robert Keere (b.1270e) was the son of Adam de Keyrlun baptised 1240e. Adam was a forge proprietor in the Forest of Dean.

You will see that there is a lot of supposition in the early records and relationships but by consulting wills and working out the different family connections we feel fairly confident in our research. One reason for the difficulty was that the eariest parish registers for Newland were eaten by rats so not all entries are legible.

I do,of course have many more details about siblings etc. If you should ever require them
