Do you have a birth hence age for James Senior ?
As he was married in 1812 I guess he was born 1794 at the very latest ?.
His widow was aged 55 in 1841 suggesting she was born abt 1786.

This is the only St Braivels James Williams Burial that seems possible

Hence he was born abt 1749, so probably a generation before your James ?.

Re James Junior I assume he was born at least 1875 if not before, so aged at least 24 when buried but probably older ? (Clues re age, such as the ages of his wife and children in Bristol would be very helpfull here, please ?).
This is the nearest Baptism Record on this site's Records, but as you'll know there are a lot of James Williams in the Parish since the 1700s until now;

Its reasonable this James would follow his father onto the water.
If this is our James he'd have been aged 42 when buried, so not unreasonable at all.

However searching FreeBMD for a Bristol Burial in 1899 only gives this one, perhaps registered a few months late and maybe the wrong age ?.

Surname Given Name Age District Volume Page Transcriber
Deaths Sep 1899
Williams James 57 Bristol 6a 39 Sukie

I would suggest it more likely he was buried at Newport( the ships home port), as this possible Burial shows ?

Surname Given Name Age District Volume Page Transcriber
Deaths Mar 1899
Williams James 42 Newport Mon. 11a 107 nahills

(NB By March this means the Burial was registered in the quarter to March 1899)

Could Newport have been considered his original home area ?. There are many instances of close ties between Forest families and Newport/Monmouthshire, I suggest more so than Bristol.

There are not any other likely Burials registered for any James Williams in Bristol or Newport at this time.

You say the other burials were reported in newspapers, where was this ? Perhaps this was from a different area than James was from/buried ??
Or perhaps his body hadnt been recovered by then ??

To help you we need any additional clues you have, please.
