James WILLIAMS St Briavels (General)
James Williams born 1857 St Briavels married Julia Taylor Bryant in Bristol July 1888. He was a mate on the Netham and drowned, along with the all the crew on 11th February 1899, near East Usk Lighthouse. Nash. The bodies were all retrieved and lay in Nash church. The inquest was carried out by the coroner for South Monmouthshire on 15th February 1899 and a death certificate issued from Caerleon.
I have a copy of the newspaper report of the burials of John Harris, James Hodges and John Pickord, which took place in Bristol, but although James was married and residing in Bristol, there is no mention of his burial having taken place in Bristol. I can only think that because he was reported to have come from 'Chepstow' his burial took place somewhere in that area.
James Williams is my great grandfather and I am wondering if anyone can give me information on how to check for burials taken place in Chepstow or surrounding area at that time.
