Stockam or Preddy families (General)

While researching our family history I was told David John Stockham and Eliza Preddy eloped and then immigrated to the USA. They are my great grandparents and are burried in Liverpool Cemetary in Liverpool, NY USA. The grave stones list his birth date as 1863 and hers as 1870.

I was able to locate their marriage record through Ancestry.com and sent for a copy. I am trying to decipher the information on the document. The marriage is dated March 27,1886. At the top of the entry it says the marriage was solemized at Dean Forest in the district of Holy Trinity in the county of Gloucester. David John Stockham is listed as a coal miner aged 21 living in The Pludds at the time of marriage. His father is listed as Edward Stockham, a coal miner.
Eliza Preddy is aged 17 also living in The Pludds at the time of marriage. Her father is listed as John Preddy, a coal miner.

At the bottom of the document is says Certified to be a true copy of an entry in register of Marriages in the registration district of Westbury on Severn.

My grandfather always spelled his name without the "h" as Stockam. I haven't been able to locate records to confirm I am tracing the correct family based on their ages when searching English records. I found what I think is her family (John and Julia Preddy) in different locations and Eliza's age not coinciding. I found what I believe to be his parents (Edward and Esther Smith) but other census records list Edward and Jane Stockham as parents. It looks like his mother Esther maybe died and his father remarried but I don't know how to prove any of this without more direction.
I did find a birth recorded for David John Stockam in Westbury on Severn, but some of the census records list his birthplace as Badgeworth Somerset. Any way you could direct me on my quest?
