Hamblin and Aston (General)
Hi,
Can anybody help me unravel the mystery of my gggg grandparents! My ggg grandmother was Maria Hamblin, she was born 24/12/1821 to William Hamblin and his wife, Mary.
As well as Maria the couple had another two children, William Hamblin Jnr born in 1816 (christened 21/4/1816) and Decima, born 1818 and christened 1/10/1818. Their surname is spelt in various different ways too, Ambler, Amblin, Hamilton, Ambling and Hamblyn!
I have managed to trace William and Mary's marriage with a fair degree of certainty. A William Ambleton married a Mary Aston on 30/9/1815 in Newland. Witnesses were William Aston and William Ward.
However, the only Mary Aston I can find as a candidate is a Mary born to Thomas Aston and Anne Evans in Coleford in 1791 (christened 3/4/1791), she also had a brother called William born in 1793. But, I fear that this Mary Aston may of died in 1798, I have found a record confirming that a Mary, daughter of Thomas Aston was indeed buried that year.
When Maria married my ggg grandfather, Henry Morgan, in 1840, one of the witnesses was a Maria Aston, so there must be some connection. Can anybody help!
Sue
