Marriage of Richard HUGHES born 1781 in Lydney (General)

Hi there Hughes people

I have a John Hughes, sailmaker, with 2 daughters (only second survived) both named Catharine, bap in Monmouth 1825 and 1830. Wife Mary. Catharine 1830 my gg grandmother, and John also makes an appearance on her marriage certificate in 1852. I've been looking for ages on both sides of the Wye and banks of Severn, but no conclusive marriage or parents, though all too many possibilities, and the pesky chap seemed to avoid censuses. A long shot but as Lydney is a likely spot for sailmaking, have you any likely candidates in your trees please?
