Philip and Sarah Jane Hopkins (General)

Thank you very much for that look up for me. The names of Phillip and Sarah are right (though Philip has been given two 'l's, but that is to be expected). The ages are odd though. They died in 1847 aged 74 and 73, so they should have been older at the census.

They did have daughters called Alice and Maria. Maria's age is right but I did not have an age for Alice. Maria is an ancestor of Mike Johns of monfamilies.

Philip and Sarah also had a daughter called Jane and the birth date is right for her. I do not have an Ann listed (and neither does Mike Johns) so I will add her to the family - thank you.

The Philip, William, and Charles you list are recorded for this family, as is Thomas, who is my great great grandfather. However, I am puzzled about Elinor, because I thought she was a child of the other Phillip Hopkins of Llandogo. I will have to chase up Elinor to see what has happened there.

I am pretty sure that the Phillipia Hopkins is another family, but no doubt she was related to my Philip and Sarah.

I am not familiar with using the Advanced Search function, so I will follow that up as well.

Thank you very much for the Census look up in particular, because it confirms that Philip and Sarah were born in the Forest and this will narrow down my search for Philip's birth and hence his parents' names. The family story from my great grandfather (Thomas's son William) who migrated to NZ in 1860, is that the family are Welsh, and Mike Johns believes we are part of the Llandogo lot. However, in the Hopkins line I am yet to find a birth outside of the Forest, except for people who married into the Hopkins family. They could still be Welsh though! Thanks again.
