Thomas Hawkins (General)
I am afraid I can't help with Thomas Hawkins' parents but I was wondering who he married ? Hannah Reed (b. 1858) had a child by a Thomas Hawkins in January 1881. As far as I am aware they were not married at this time as in the 1881 Census, Hannah is shown living with her two month old child (Gertrude) with her mother in Newham Bottom. According to the Parish Registers on FoD, Gertrude HOCKINGS and her brother Harry Tucker Hockings were baptised at Knights Hill (a short distance from Newham Bottom) in November 1882. Their parents are described as Thomas and Hannah. I have little doubt that Hockings is supposed to be Hawkins but have had difficulty in finding a marriage record, if indeed they were married?!
