Thomas Hawkins (General)
Hi Mat
Well in 1881 (on the census) Thomas was living in Wales with Mary, his common law wife to be and her husband Henry Lloyd. Thomas was recorded as Thomas Hopkins as the time Lodger, but I am pretty sure he is my Thomas as his age is right and he came from Lydbrook. 10 years later Thomas is living with Mary as husband and wife in Ashton in Makerfield, Lancashire with 3 children with the surname Hawkins although I actually think the 2 oldest were Henry's children and also one child that Mary had illegitimately.
Maybe Thomas is the father of Gertrude, you never know!!
